At night, let the trees gently rock you to sleep in the queen bed upstairs- nestled 25 feet above the forest floor.
The Story of Iron & Vine
Iron & Vine was a lifelong dream, 4 years in the making. Born and raised in the shadow of the mountain, the magic of Mt. Rainier is no stranger to us. It was the perfect place to start our journey.
Our vision began to take shape in 2018 as we searched the valley- not for the perfect property, but for the perfect trees. Finally, we found a half-acre of giant 100-year-old Douglas Fir’s and we were able to make it our own. And so the story of Iron & Vine began…
It was never so much about wanting to have a treehouse… as much as it was wanting to create one. And that’s what we did. With our host trees chosen, we spent night after night scribbling out plans that not only worked with our trees, but accentuated them for the wonder that they are. With the help of some incredible folks, we spent two years bringing our design to life- through planning, engineering, permitting, and most importantly- learning. At the end of it all, we had the regions first permit for a full blown house- in the trees.
From the first bolt to the last light switch, our family worked together to build Iron & Vine. Doing the work ourselves afforded us the ability to make it exactly how we wanted. We fabricated an enormous steel support structure to withstand the test of time, milled logs salvaged from the very property to panel the walls and give the perfect atmosphere, and spend as much time on every last detail as we wanted. It was 4 years of blood, sweat, and tears (oh and welcoming our first child)- and now, we are excited that we get to share it with you.
